Plasma CAD is free for personal and non-commercial work. If you use it in a business, for client work or to design products you sell, you need a commercial license. You pay by card, and your license key is on the screen as soon as the payment goes through, with a copy in your inbox.

Do you need a license?
One rule: if the work is paid for, or done for a business, it needs a commercial license. Everything else is free, with the full application.

Files you make are yours under either license. The free version is the whole application; the drawing sheets it exports carry one small line, "Plasma CAD, non-commercial license".

Is the commercial version different software?
No. It's the same download with every feature. The commercial license covers business use. Its key puts your name in the title bar and takes the non-commercial line off the drawings you export.
How do I get my license?
Buy it on this page. Your license key is shown as soon as the payment goes through, and emailed to you. Paste it into Help > License in Plasma CAD. The key is checked on your own computer: no account, no activation, nothing sent anywhere.
What if I lose my key?
It is in the email we sent when you paid, and the page that showed it shows it again whenever you open its address. If you have neither, email us and we will send it.
How long does the launch price last?
Until December 31, 2026. A license is $100 per person. During the launch it is $50, and the checkout takes the 50% off by itself. From January 1, 2027 the price is $100. Either way you pay once, and the license is yours for good.
Can I try it at work before buying?
Yes, for up to 30 days. Download the free version and try it on your real parts. For use after that, buy a license.
I'm a solo freelancer. Do I need a license?
Yes, because client work is commercial. The license is the same price per person, paid once, with no yearly fee.
What about files I made under the free license?
They're yours. Your .cadpart, STEP, STL and DXF files carry no restrictions. The license covers how you use the software.
We need licenses for a team.
Every person who uses Plasma CAD for work needs a license. Set the quantity at checkout to the number of people: you get one key, and each of them enters it. For a quote or to pay against a purchase order, email us and a person replies.
Why does my receipt say Link?
Stripe sells the license on our behalf through its service Link, and handles the sales tax or VAT. So the receipt and invoice come from Link, and your card statement reads LINK.COM followed by our name.
Our school or non-profit needs a signed agreement.
Educational and registered non-profit use is free. If your institution still needs paperwork or deployment help, email us anyway.
